Kin: Biblical Design
Kin begins the process of disillusioning and drawing parallels between modern day society and the bible. Focusing on the first 3 books, I conducted immersive research, journalistic photography, and visual communication work in forming real-world stories in reference to topics within Genesis, Exodus, and Judges.
Genesis
The topics of Eden and Babel are in this book. Eden refers to a once perfect environment where man and nature coexist in harmony that has since been lost. Babel is the confusion of language, now reveled in as artistic expression in various forms
Exodus
A sense of place both geographically, as well as consciously are explored in Exodus. The journey is reflected in man’s own ways traversing the environment today and how urbanity has altered it. The promised land today is different depending on the individual and their concept of home
Judges
Chosen individuals known as Judges pose as symbolic figures of our current culture of competition. Individuals are chosen under various criteria, work to contend any form of idolatry contrary to their beliefs, and sustain their methods and perspectives through dynasty

Visual Dissection
In order to communicate various aspects of these biblical narratives with their real-world parallels, breaking down each book into manageable subjects and establishing organizational hierarchy was key to the process. Each block within the full composition of the narrative serves as a point of connection to a real-world topic established through primary research and journalistic photography.

Photographic Research
Over the course of 7 months research was conducted and documented via journalistic photography. Research subjects were comprised of individuals related to the 3 books and ranged from athletes and performers, to scientists and farmers.
